We are so grateful to everyone who was able to donate food or money for our first food drive on Saturday, May 7 at the Giant Food in the Village of River Hill. Thank you to the generosity of our Food Warriors, we were able to collect over 126 pounds of gluten free and allergy friendly food for the Howard County Food Bank.
The food drive kicks off our new partnership with the Howard County Food Bank, a program of the Community Action Council of Howard County. With the assistance of Advisory Council member, Maureen Burke, owner of One Dish Cuisine, we will be working with them to provide safe food options for our neighbors in need.
Speaking of One Dish Cuisine, they will be serving as a permanent collection point for gluten free and allergy friendly food. Look for the clear, plastic bin by the front door of their business. You can drop off food donations during One Dish Cuisine's business hours. Financial contributions to the S.A.F.E. Food Pantry can be made on our website.
We have a lot of exciting events coming up in June. Visit our Calendar of Events for more information. We will be announcing another food drive soon.
This Saturday is the big day! From 11AM until 2PM, S.A.F.E. Food Pantry volunteers will be at the Giant Food in River Hill located at 6050 Daybreak Circle in Clarksville, Maryland to collect gluten free and allergy friendly food and monetary donations. We hope you will be a Food Warrior and bring your haul to the Giant on May 7. It’s not too late to sign up for the Food Warrior program on our webpage.
Thank you to those who braved the weather and met us at One Dish Cuisine on Tuesday, May 3 to donate safe food for our first food drive collection. Good news - One Dish Cuisine will now be a permanent food collection location. Look for the clear bin with signage just outside the door. For information on location and hours for One Dish Cuisine, please visit their website. We greatly appreciate their continued support of our organization.
Also, we are excited to announce our new partnership with the Community Action Council, who oversees the Howard County Food Bank. All food donations will be going to the food bank to help our neighbors in need that suffer from conditions including food allergies, celiac disease, and gluten intolerance. We need your help to fill those special dietary shelves at the food bank!
If you have any questions, please contact our Food Drive Chairperson, Margo. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday at the Giant Food.
